I'm 50+ years old, from Bellingham Washington, USA.



My name is Jerry Peterson I have lived for 28 years in Alaska. I have returned to my home town of Bellingham, to become primary caregiver to my sister, who has suffered a stroke.. I miss my beloved Alaska, so I thought a couple of pictures would be nice reminders of the place I am from. I have lived and worked in many places in the state. From Prince William Sound to the far arctic. I have worked in the Aleutian Islands (10 years) and on the Sea Ice of the Chukchi Sea (150 miles from Siberia) I have mined gold and slimed fish, I have treated waste water and driven tour bus. I have built two pickup trucks from parts in a junk yard. In both instances I started with just a frame . My hobbies are many and varied but I love to write poetry. I do not read it much, just write it..

An ebony missile bursts from the sea
I cower at my little boat's rail
That tiny yellow eye looks squarely at me
My bladder seems ready to fail
As if in slow motion,he arches his back.
With a dorsal fin at least six fee tall,
I have been challenged but courage I lack
For I cannot swim afterall.
So he rockets back to th rest of the pod
With his warrior's challenge un-taken.
And I pulled for shor thanking my God
And twas days afore my knees quit their shakin...

Polar bear brothers out on the ice of the Chukchi Sea
These bad boys are the most dangerous bears in the world. They have no natural enemies (except each other) and will hunt anything that is on the ice. (including man) The Eskimo calls him "Nanook" and used to kill every one they came across. They were natural enemies because they both competed for seals and walrus. Now of course in his arrogant fashion "civilized" man has put an end to that ...
 
I suppose you might guess that this poor ugly critter is none other than the old bum hisself
